James W. Mitchell, MD

Dr. James Mitchell is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago. He serves as Ambulatory Pediatrics Medical Director at Comer Children’s Hospital, overseeing outpatient care and mentoring future pediatricians. Dr. Mitchell earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his Pediatrics residency at the University of Chicago. A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), he is committed to evidence‑based, patient-centered care. His clinical interests include pediatric asthma, ADHD, and the care of children in foster care, focusing on both preventive medicine and chronic condition management. Through his clinical, academic, and leadership roles, Dr. Mitchell advances high-quality pediatric care while training the next generation of physicians.
