Scholar Nomination

The Bucksbaum Institute invites you to nominate one or more junior faculty from your department to become a Bucksbaum Institute Junior Faculty Scholar. For the purposes of this nomination, a “junior faculty scholar” is a faculty member at or below the rank of Assistant Professor. Please note that the nomination process is open to clinical care providers who are not physicians. In 2023-2024, we will be selecting three Junior Faculty Scholars. All nominees who are not selected will be invited to become Associate Junior Faculty Scholars, which allows them to apply for our Pilot Grant funding.
If you have previously nominated a junior faculty member from your department, they will automatically be considered again in this year’s selection process. It is typically the case that one of our appointed Junior Faculty Scholars was an Associate Junior Faculty Scholar the year prior. Junior Faculty Scholars will receive support for a two-year term, during which time they will be expected to participate in Bucksbaum Institute programming and/or committee work, and to engage in research related to the Bucksbaum mission. To support this work, the Bucksbaum Institute will contribute $20,000 per year toward the scholar and an additional $10,000 per year to the department.

The nominee’s CV and a one or two-paragraph letter indicating how the work of the faculty member you nominate reflects the goals of the Bucksbaum Institute. The deadline for nominations is October 2, 2023.
